We need you!
As SamSpeaksScience is steadily growing, we are exploring different ways of bringing our knowledge to our widening audience. Our next project is to make professional videos of the outcome of our coaching sessions on how to deliver an engaging science talk. And for that, we need people who want to be coached. In other words, we need you!
We are looking for early career researchers who have NOT followed SamSpeaksScience workshops and who would be interested in free coaching in exchange for the use of the recording of their talk before and after coaching. We would use these videos for 2 different purposes:
- during our workshops as course material;
- as an online resource on our website.
Outline of the program
We envision the following set-up for the coaching, which would happen with a group of 5 participants:
Part 1: Each of the 5 participants presents a 3-minute talk of their work in English, aimed at a lay or expert audience, in-person, in front of the other participants. Each presentation is filmed.
The presentations are followed by a 2.5-hour crash-course on storytelling and slide design.
Part 2: Participants revise their 3-minute talk in their own time.
Part 3: Each participant receives a 1-hour private online coaching session on delivery, storytelling and slide design of their revised talk.
Part 4: Participants present their final 3-minute talk in-person in front of their peers and receive extensive feedback from the trainer. The revised 3-minute talks are filmed.
